In recent years, Chelsea has been actively searching for young and promising footballers to strengthen their squad. Now, the London club has turned its attention to the African continent.
Details: According to The South African, Chelsea is interested in Cape Town City player and South Africa U-17 international Emile Witbooi. The Londoners are planning to invite the 16-year-old for a trial. They were impressed by his skills during a previous scouting session and are ready to integrate him into their U-18 team.
It is also reported that much will depend on the upcoming U-17 World Cup.
Quote: "It is believed they want to see how he performs at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar later this year. Although at the moment, Chelsea is considered the favorite," the report states.
Reminder: Chelsea will trigger the release clause in Liam Delap’s contract with the team that was relegated from the Premier League, amounting to €30 million. The player himself is expected to sign a contract with the recent Europa Conference League champions within the next 24 hours.
