Chelsea goalkeeper to continue career at Ligue 1 club
Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrović is set to leave the club this summer after losing his battle for the starting spot under new head coach Enzo Maresca.
According to L'Équipe, the Serbian shot-stopper will continue his career in France with a loan move to Strasbourg. The Ligue 1 club views Petrović as their first-choice goalkeeper.
It's important to note that Strasbourg is a satellite club of Chelsea, both owned by the BlueCo company.
This summer, Chelsea has already loaned central midfielder Andrey Santos and left-back Caleb Wiley to Strasbourg.
In the summer of 2023, Chelsea signed Petrović from New England Revolution for €16 million. Last season, he secured the starting role ahead of Robert Sánchez and made 23 appearances in the Premier League.
Chelsea is scheduled to face Manchester City in their Premier League opener on Sunday, August 18.
