Chelsea Women’s star Samantha Kerr is set to appear in court next month following accusations of racially abusing a police officer, reports The Sun. The incident reportedly took place in London on January 30, 2023, during an altercation over a taxi fare.

It is alleged that Kerr directed racist remarks at a police officer who was called to resolve the dispute.

Today, Kerr attended Kingston Crown Court regarding the case but pleaded not guilty to the charges. As a result, the matter will proceed to trial next month.

Currently, Kerr is sidelined from football as she recovers from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The Australian striker joined Chelsea in 2019 and has since made 128 appearances for the club, scoring 99 goals. During her tenure, Kerr has won four Women’s Super League titles, three Women’s FA Cups, and other honors with the London club.

Kerr is engaged to fellow footballer Kristie Mewis, and in November, the couple announced they are expecting a child, with Mewis carrying the baby.
