Chelsea and Newcastle are set to battle for the emerging star from Salzburg

London-based Chelsea intends to bolster their defensive lineup in January by securing the versatile defender Amar Dedic from Red Bull Salzburg, as per the Sun.

However, the London club is not the sole contender for the rapidly progressing footballer. The aristocrats will have to outbid Newcastle and Roma for the Bosnian's services.

It's noted that former Chelsea coach and current Roma manager, Jose Mourinho, holds great admiration for Dedic's talent.

The 21-year-old Dedic has been with Salzburg since the summer of 2022, transferring from Wolfsberg. This season, the player has featured in 25 matches across all competitions (six of which were in the Champions League group stage), scoring five goals.

The versatile defender, capable of covering all four defensive positions, has accumulated 12 caps and scored one goal for the Bosnia national team. Transfermarkt values the player at 20 million euros.
