The match between Charlton and Portsmouth at The Valley was brought to an early halt following a serious medical emergency in the stands.
Details: Charlton have confirmed the tragic news—one of their supporters has passed away.
In an official statement, Charlton said:
“It is with deep sadness that we announce one of our supporters has passed away today following a medical incident at The Valley. The entire club extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
The supporter was Norman Barker, one of the club’s most famous and devoted fans, widely known by the nickname Headphones Norm. He was affectionately called “Mr Charlton” and was seen as a symbol of loyalty to the team.
The match was not resumed.
