Chaos in Serie B continues. Salernitana requests playoff match postponement due to team food poisoning

Recently, Brescia was officially relegated due to financial issues, which seemed to settle the battle for survival in Italy’s Serie B. But as it turns out, the problems are just beginning.
Details: On Friday, the return leg of the relegation playoff for a spot in Serie A was scheduled between Salernitana and Sampdoria. The first match in Genoa ended with a 2-0 win for the home side, but ahead of the return fixture, the hosts have requested a postponement due to a food poisoning outbreak within the squad.
On the flight back from Genoa, 21 players and staff members began to feel unwell, and upon landing, most of those affected were hospitalized. The club stated that it has already established informal contact with Serie B officials and received a “general willingness” to consider their request for a match postponement.
Reminder: Initially, Frosinone was supposed to take part in the playoff, and the matches were set to begin a month ago. However, due to Brescia’s relegation for non-sporting reasons, the team was saved from the drop, and Sampdoria took Frosinone’s place.
