Celebration! Official: Formula 1 returns to Portugal
Portugal will replace the Netherlands.
Details: Earlier today, Formula 1's official page on social network X announced that the Portuguese Grand Prix is officially back!
The races will be hosted by the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, also known as Portimão.
The last time the Portuguese Grand Prix was held there was in 2020 and 2021, but now local fans can look forward to the return of the event in 2027 and 2028. It is reported that the Portuguese Grand Prix will replace the Dutch Grand Prix.
"Portugal is back on the Formula 1 map. Hosting the Grand Prix in the Algarve region strengthens our regional development strategy, increases the value of our territories, and creates opportunities for the local economy. Besides being a source of prestige for our country, this event will enhance Portugal's image worldwide," stated Portugal's Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida.
