Cédric Bakambu Poised for Return to DRC Squad After Strong Form at Betis
Sébastien Desabre, the head coach of the Congolese national team, has hinted that Cédric Bakambu may return shortly. Bakambu's importance to the squad was emphasized by Desabre in a recent interview, which reaffirmed his vital position prior to the coach's arrival.
"Cédric has always been a key figure for the DRC, even before I came. He was instrumental in attracting dual nationals, and his history ensures he remains closely tied to Congo, both on and off the field," Desabre said.
After recovering from injuries and regaining his form at Real Betis, where he has scored three goals and provided two assists, Bakambu could make his return as early as next month.
Desabre stated that the decision will be based on Bakambu's form, playing time, and performance in March, when the DRC faces South Sudan and Mauritania in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
