Carlos Queiroz’s Talks With Tunisia Collapse Over Salary Issues
The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) and Carlos Queiroz, the former coach of the national teams of Egypt and Qatar, have failed to reach an agreement. The Portuguese strategist had just arrived in Tunisia to complete the details for guiding the "Carthage Eagles," but the accord was ruined by money disputes.
The main barrier, according to Tunisian publication Mosaique FM, was Queiroz's excessive wage expectations. According to Nessma Sport, the FTF's presidential elections on January 25 are expected to be followed by the announcement of Tunisia's new head coach. The channel hinted that the next coach will most likely be Tunisian.
Queiroz, whose last stint was with Qatar, departed after just 10 matches in December 2023. Tunisia has been without a head coach since October 2023, when Faouzi Benzarti stepped down.
Later this year, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will be played, and the Carthage Eagles have already qualified.
