Cameroon climbs in latest FIFA rankings
The Indomitable Lions have moved up one place in the October 2026 FIFA rankings.
Cameroon now occupies 42nd place in the world and is the eighth-highest-ranked African nation. This rise follows the performances of David Pagou’s side during the September–October 2026 international break.
The Indomitable Lions first beat the Comoros 3–1 on the first matchday of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. They then drew 1–1 with the Republic of the Congo on the second matchday of the qualifiers.
Cameroon ended this international break on a positive note with a 1–0 victory over Côte d’Ivoire on 3 October in Abidjan, in an international friendly. These results have enabled the Cameroonian national team to climb one place in the updated world rankings.
On the African continent, Morocco remains at the top of the rankings. The Atlas Lions won their first two matchdays in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and drew with Mali in a friendly during the international break. Senegal retains second place in Africa. The top five is rounded off by Egypt, Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire.
