Caf rules against Orlando Pirates. ST Eloi Lupopo celebrates 'administrative victory' as they can now focus on their Caf Champions League matches
ST Eloi Lupopo have expressed relief and vindication at Caf ruling in Orlando Pirates’ protest.
Luppo, infact, have described the Caf ruling as an ‘administrative victory’ as this meant they will continue participating in the continent’s premier competition, the Caf Champions League.
"Saint Lupopo Football Club has secured a decisive administrative victory following the decision made by the Confederation of African Football (CAF)," the club said on its Facebook page.
"This one has dismissed the complaint of South Africans against Orlando Pirates and confirmed the eligibility of players Molia and Kashala, who are regularly registered," it added.
The club revealed that coach Guy Bukasa Misakabu's six-match suspension in the DRC U-20 case was confirmed by CAF's Disciplinary Jury.
Lupopo revealed Pirates were instead fined on two transgressions by Caf.
"CAF has imposed financial sanctions on the South African club:
$5,000 (R85 000) to deprive FC Saint Eloi Lupopo of the necessary accreditations.
$20,000 (R343 500) for spraying chemicals in our team's locker room."
"This decision comforts the victory achieved on the field, and strengthens our club's position in the competiton," the club added.
"FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo will continue to defend its interests with the greatest determination," it concluded.
