CAF Finalizes AFCON 2025 Match Venues in Morocco
The allocation of games for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will be held in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 21, 2026, has been formally approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The declaration was made on Monday at the Moroccan Football Federation's offices during a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee.
The meeting approved the addition of three new stadiums, bringing the total number of venues hosting the tournament to nine:
Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium (Rabat)
Mohammed V Stadium (Casablanca)
Grand Stade de Marrakech
Fes Stadium
Post Stadium (Rabat)
Olympic Stadium (Rabat)
Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium (Rabat)
Grand Stade de Tanger
Grand Stade d’Agadir
The tournament’s opening ceremony and first match will take place on December 21, 2025, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, which is currently undergoing renovations. The same stadium will also host the final on January 18, 2026, as well as the semifinal matches.
Group A: Morocco’s matches will be played exclusively at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, while other group matches will take place at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
Quarterfinals: Matches will be held at the stadiums in Fes, Marrakech, Agadir, and Rabat.
Mohammed V Stadium: This venue will host eight matches, including group stage games, quarterfinals, and the third-place playoff, but it will not host any semifinal or final matches.
With this comprehensive plan, Morocco underlines its ability to use its cutting-edge sports infrastructure and organizational know-how to deliver an outstanding AFCON.
