Ahead of the much awaited 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw, the CAF executive committee met in Rabat, Morocco, under the direction of president Patrice Motsepe. The draw will be held in Rabat's Mohammed V National Theater tomorrow night. Morocco’ll host the competition from 21 December 2025, to 18 January 2026.

Elections for the CAF presidency are scheduled for 12 March 2025, in Cairo, and Motsepe has been confirmed as the only contender.

The forthcoming FIFA council elections, in which 13 candidates from different African federations are vying for five seats, were also discussed at the meeting.

  • Fouzi Lekjaa (Morocco)

  • Hany Abo Rida (Egypt)

  • Amaju Pinnick (Nigeria)

The executive committee accepted the final recommendations made by the CAF governance committee for the executive committee elections. The following are contenders for open regional positions:

  1. East and Central Africa's Wallace John Karia (Tanzania).

  2. West Africa's Mustapha Raji (Liberia) A.

  3. West African Kurt Okraku (Ghana) B.

  4. North Africa's Walid Sadi (Algeria).

Four candidates will vie for 2 seats in Southern Africa:

  1. Elvis Raja Chetty of the Seychelles

  2. Feizal Ismael Sidat of Mozambique

  3. Alfred Randriamanampisoa of Madagascar

  4. Samir Sobha of Mauritius.

Women's Representative: The only contender for the position is Bestine Kazadi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Legendary Cameroonian Samuel Eto'o's bid for a seat in Central Africa is uncertain. Although CAF's Governance Committee denied his candidacy, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has not yet made a ruling.

In compliance with Article 18 of its statutes, CAF will disseminate the final list of candidates to its member associations.
