CAF Champions League: Rivers United Fall 3–0 to Defending Champions Pyramids FC
Rivers United kicked off their CAF Champions League group-stage campaign on a disappointing note, falling 3–0 to titleholders Pyramids FC at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo on Saturday.
The reigning champions showed their quality in the second half, with Egyptian forward Ahmed Atef El Sayed stealing the spotlight by netting a superb hat trick that put the game out of Rivers United’s reach.
With the opening setback behind them, Rivers United will aim to respond positively when they host Morocco’s RS Berkane in Uyo for their matchday-two clash next Friday.
