CAF Champions League: Julien Chevalier won’t be drawn on favourites ahead of ASEC Mimosas v MAS Fez
Ahead of the second leg of the second preliminary round of the 2026–2027 CAF Champions League, the ASEC Mimosas head coach has urged his players to stay focused.
At a press conference ahead of the match scheduled for Sunday 25 October at the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, Julien Chevalier stated that he expects a hard-fought encounter against MAS Fez. Following the 1–1 draw in the first leg in Morocco, both teams remain in contention for a place in the group stage.
In front of their home crowd, the Yellow and Blacks will have the chance to make the difference, but their manager refuses to regard his team as favourites.
“Being the favourites is a big claim. We’ll need to be able to keep our game under control,” warned Julien Chevalier.
The ASEC Mimosas manager is also counting on the fans’ support to help his team get through this round. “If the crowd turns up and backs us as much as possible, it will give the team a bit more energy,” he emphasised.
Thanks to the away goal, the Ivorians have a slight advantage ahead of the second leg.
