Burnley's goalkeeper will continue his career at Newcastle United
Newcastle has secured another goalkeeper for the upcoming season. Burnley's goalkeeper James Trafford will be joining the new club.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the goalkeeper has already agreed to personal terms with Newcastle. He will become the new goalkeeper for the Magpies. A new offer for Burnley, around £15 million with performance-based bonuses, is expected soon. Notably, Manchester City will receive 20% of the fee from Burnley.
It was recently reported that Newcastle was also considering alternative options to strengthen their goalkeeper position, including Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia and Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal, but both were deemed too expensive.
This season, Trafford conceded 62 goals in 28 matches and kept two clean sheets. Burnley was relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2023/24 season and will start the new season in the Championship.
