Burnley striker Lyle Foster excited about Bafana Bafana's prospects at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco
Lyle Foster has expressed excitement at representing Bafana Bafana at next month’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Burnley striker is going to miss his English Premiership side’s matches for the period of a month should Bafana also reach the final as the tournament starts on 21 December until 18 January.
Foster though decried the timing of this continental showpiece but still showed keenness on appearing at the spectacle for South Africa.
“The toughest thing about AFCON is pausing our season [in the Premier League] and go there,” Foster told Julia Stuart on SuperSport.
“But at the same time, it’s your country, it is what it is. But it does hurt a little leaving the squad because you want to be there throughout the season, helping the team.
“And especially during the December, that’s were most important games come, the schedule is heavy. So, it’s the nice time to be here.
“But yeah, I have to go to AFCON and focus on that. But like so said, I’m excited for AFCON and to come back.”
Foster is also part of Bafana’s side to face Zambia today in a friendly international in Gqeberha.
The match starts at 3pm.
