Bruce Bvuma hoping Kaizer Chiefs can repeat 2021 feat of reaching a Caf competition final as they start their Confederation Cup journey in Egypt
Bruce Bvuma is nostalgic.
The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper felt the nostalgia of his team’s run to the Caf Champions League final four years ago when they lost 3-0 to Egyptian giants, Al-Ahly.
The source of the Chiefs second choice goal-minder's sentiment is the club's trip to Egypt for their first match of the this year’s Caf Confederation Cup group match against Al Masry.
“Being back is very exciting. I am lucky enough to have reached a CAF final and remember how sweet the journey was," Bvuma told the club's media this week.
"Yes, we had challenges along the way, but it was a great experience. Playing on the continent, you get exposure, which has led to some of our players moving abroad after doing well against other top African teams.
Bvuma also stressed the importance of ensuring they win this first of their group stage match as Zambia’s Zesco United and another Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek complete Group D.
"It is always great to get three points, and that is what we will be aiming for. We don’t want to reach the last round with the pressure of needing to win. But it is equally important to ensure we don’t lose our first game, which will put us on the back foot."
The match takes place at New Suez Stadium at 4pm tomorrow.
