Manchester United could face another major ownership shake-up as interest from the Middle East resurfaces.

Details: According to renowned journalist Ben Jacobs, potential investors from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have made enquiries about purchasing Manchester United over the past 12 months. However, none of these approaches has resulted in a confirmed takeover agreement.

Interest from Saudi Arabia remains at a very early stage. Private investors are reportedly exploring the possibility of forming a consortium to finance a potential acquisition, but no concrete bid has emerged.

Meanwhile, the situation involving investors from the UAE was more advanced. Discussions progressed beyond initial enquiries, but ultimately failed to produce a formal offer. Interest has also come from Bahrain, although no specific bid has been reported.

Importantly, Sheikh Jassim, who previously attempted to purchase Manchester United, is not believed to be involved in any of the current takeover initiatives.

It is worth noting that the Glazer family have controlled Manchester United since 2005. In February 2024, Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed his minority investment in the club, with his INEOS group taking responsibility for football operations.
