While Manchester United struggle, Glazer sends over $220,000 to Trump's Republicans ahead of US elections
Manchester United director Edward Glazer has attracted attention for his political contributions in the United States! While the English giants continue to face financial and sporting difficulties, a new report reveals that a member of the club's controlling family has donated more than $220,000 to the Republican Party ahead of the American midterm elections.
Details: According to City AM journalist Matt Hardy, Federal Election Commission records show that Glazer contributed $221,502 to the Republican National Committee during 2026. The money was transferred through the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NFL franchise owned by the Glazer family. Eight separate payments were made between February and June.
Four of the reported contributions amounted to $36,917 each, while smaller payments were also recorded. The donations were made ahead of the November 3 congressional elections, when American voters will determine control of the House of Representatives and Senate.
The revelation comes during another difficult period for Manchester United. The club's total debt exceeds £1 billion, according to City AM, while supporters have repeatedly criticised the Glazer family's ownership. The American investors have controlled United since 2005, although Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS now oversees football operations.
Glazer was identified as a leading contributor to the Republican National Committee among American Premier League owners examined by City AM. However, the reported payments were political contributions rather than transfers from Manchester United's accounts. The news nevertheless adds another dimension to the ongoing debate surrounding the club's ownership.
Reminder: Enough is enough! Manchester United fans launched a new campaign against the Glazer family and the club's commercial partners.
