BREAKING. Roberto De Zerbi will depart from Brighton after the match against Manchester United
Brighton's head coach Roberto De Zerbi will depart the club at the end of the season, as announced on the official Seagulls' website.
Both parties will terminate the contract by mutual agreement. The Italian coach will step down after the final match of the season against Manchester United on May 19.
"We have reached a mutual agreement to terminate Roberto's contract at a time that suits both parties, giving us as much time as possible to plan for the next season. Roberto will have enough time to consider his next career move and his future," the official statement from Brighton reads.
De Zerbi, who took charge of Brighton in September 2022 following Graham Potter's departure to Chelsea, achieved the club's best Premier League finish in the 2022/23 season (6th place) and led the team to the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 this season.
Several top clubs are interested in De Zerbi's services, including Liverpool, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich. According to the latest reports, the Italian is the leading candidate for the Bayern Munich head coach position. It was reported that the sporting director of the Munich club has already held initial talks with the Italian coach.
