Everton will be refunded four points gained this season after an appeal for breaching the Profitability and Sustainability Rules was heard. EPL.

The decision follows an appeal the club lodged against a decision from November 2023, when 10 points were taken off the club for breaching the PSR. Instead of 10 points, the club will be fined six points.

"The appeal was heard within three days earlier this month by the Board of Appeal," according to the EPL's official website. - Everton FC appealed the sanction imposed against it on nine grounds, each of which related to the sanction rather than the fact of the offence, which the club admitted.

Two of those nine grounds were upheld by the Board of Appeal, which substituted six of the original 10-point deductions. This revised sanction takes immediate effect and the Premier League table will be updated today to reflect this."

It means Everton will have 25 points, which would lift the Toffees to 15th in the table with a five-point advantage over the relegation zone.

Everton have indicated that they are satisfied with the decision of the Board of Appeal and consider themselves vindicated in their appeal. In addition, the club is willing to co-operate with the EPL in respect of the current proceedings brought for the reporting period ending June 2023.

It is worth recalling that the Premier League suspected Everton of further breaches of profitability and sustainability rules in January.
