Yesterday in Paris, a historic moment unfolded at the Olympics as breaking made its debut in the Games. The first gold medal in this discipline was awarded to Ami from Japan.

However, the day was also marked by a controversial incident. Talash, whose real name is Manizha Talas, participated in the competition representing the Refugee Team, as she had to flee her native Afghanistan following the Taliban's return to power.

Upon entering the stage, Talash removed her sweater to reveal a blue cape with the inscription: “Freedom for Afghan Women.”

This gesture was met with approving applause from the crowd at Urban Park in Paris, and later, she explained her actions to the Daily Mail.

"I wanted to show people that it is possible," she said.

However, the actions of the 21-year-old were met with disapproval from officials, who viewed the gesture as a "demonstration of a political slogan" and subsequently disqualified her from the competition. The rules prohibit athletes from making political statements at the Games, although the International Olympic Committee has somewhat relaxed these restrictions in recent years.

It's worth noting that this is not the first time an Afghan athlete has made a statement of this nature. Earlier, sprinter Kimia Yousofi also spoke out in defense of women's rights in her home country.
