Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying halted by red flags! What happened?
Qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix in Formula 1 was at risk of being called off due to the weather. The heavy rain over the Interlagos circuit stopped shortly before the session began, but the track remained wet and the conditions were still challenging.
The situation deteriorated almost immediately after the pit lane opened. The rain intensified again, prompting many drivers to pit and switch to Full Wet tyres.
However, the rainfall continued to intensify. Race control eventually brought out the red flags and halted qualifying on safety grounds.
As a result, the drivers were forced to pause their battle for grid positions at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Interlagos circuit once again demonstrated just how unpredictable the weather in São Paulo can be.
