Boxing legend Donald Curry battling brain disease, son pleads for help
Former boxing champion Donald Curry, 63, is facing a severe brain condition, Bild reports. The legendary fighter was diagnosed several years ago with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative condition caused by repeated blows to the head.
Curry’s illness has left him in need of significant care. His son, Donovan, took to social media platform X to share the challenges his father is facing. Donovan explained that the condition has led to memory loss, cognitive difficulties, and behavioral changes.
Previously, Curry received support through a church-based facility, thanks to his former trainer, Paul Reyes, who recently passed away. However, Curry was asked to leave the facility due to repeated rule violations. Donovan is now seeking a new care facility for his father.
“I’m reaching out to the boxing community to help find a long-term medical facility for my father. If you know of any resources, funding, or organizations that can assist, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your support during this difficult time,” Donovan wrote.
