Borussia Dortmund legend to undergo medical ahead of transfer to top Italian club
Legendary central defender Mats Hummels, currently a free agent, has found a new club.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the German footballer is set to arrive in Italy today for a medical examination and to sign a contract with Roma.
Hummels' agreement with Roma will be for one season, with an option to extend for an additional year.
Hummels will become the second central defender that Roma has signed in recent days. The club recently announced the signing of former Atlético Madrid player Mario Hermoso.
Previously, it was reported that Hummels was in negotiations with Brighton. He has also attracted interest from Como, Bologna, and Juventus.
Last season, Hummels made 40 appearances for Borussia Dortmund across all competitions, scoring 4 goals.
In total, the central defender has played 508 matches for the "Black and Yellows," scoring 38 goals and providing 23 assists. Notably, Hummels was part of Jürgen Klopp's legendary team that won the Bundesliga title twice.
