Bologna's top scorer Joshua Zirkzee is one of the most sought-after forwards on the transfer market this summer, and a primary contender has now emerged for the Dutch player.
According to Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan has informed Bologna of their intention to activate Zirkzee's release clause, which is set at €40 million. Following this, the Rossoneri will only need to reach an agreement with the player himself.
In the recently concluded Serie A season, the former Bayern Munich striker scored 11 goals and provided 5 assists for Bologna. At Milan, he could potentially replace Olivier Giroud, who has officially transferred to Los Angeles FC as a free agent.
Earlier, Bologna's head coach Thiago Motta officially left the club, with Vincenzo Italiano from Fiorentina stepping in as his replacement.
Notably, Bologna has qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 60 years following the last season.
