Boca Set to Welcome Leandro Paredes With Bombonera Celebration
Leandro Paredes is returning to Boca Juniors, and the club is planning a grand reception. According to TN, the World Cup-winning midfielder finalized his release from Roma and will arrive in Argentina on Wednesday to sign a three-and-a-half-year contract with his boyhood club.
On Thursday, Boca will open the Bombonera to both members and non-members for an official unveiling scheduled for 6 p.m., with gates opening at 4:30 p.m. This marks Paredes’s second stint at the club, having first debuted in 2012 and made 31 appearances with five goals.
While financial terms were not disclosed, reports indicate Boca will pay less than the original $3.5 million buyout clause. The deal was reportedly made possible thanks to Paredes himself pushing for a return to Argentina.
Now 31, the midfielder brings back a wealth of European experience, having played for Zenit, PSG, Juventus, and Roma. Boca's Football Council hopes his arrival will boost the squad midseason—and fans are already preparing to give him a hero’s welcome in La Boca.
