Betway Premiership side Stellenbosch FC have officially welcomed Orlando Pirates defender Thabiso Lebitso to their ranks.

The right-back joins Stellies having won a treble of trophies at Pirates where he played a bit part role in the team.

Lebitso faced a tough time when it comes to competition for the starting line-up as Deno Van Rooyen and Kamohelo Sebelebele were the preferred starters under Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Joining Stellies would be a relief of sort for Lebitso as he would reuniting with his former coach Gavin Hunt who coached him while at Chippa United three seasons ago.

“Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce the acquisition of Thabiso Lebitso on a permanent transfer from Orlando Pirates,” the club announced via club’s statement.

“Stellenbosch FC has bolstered its squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign by acquiring the services of versatile defender Thabiso Lebitso on a long-term deal.

“Lebitso spent the last two seasons with Orlando Pirates, where he helped the Buccaneers win the Betway Premiership, Carling Knockout, and back-to-back MTN8 titles.”

The Cape Winelands club CEO, Rob Benadie, said Lebitso is great addition to their club.

“He is a player who has consistently demonstrated his quality at the highest level of South African football and brings a valuable mix of experience and versatility to our squad," said Benadie.
