Real Betis hosted Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, February 2, and after the match, the home club turned to the police.

Details: According to Marca, Betis received audio recordings from the stands allegedly containing racist and hateful chants directed at Athletic Bilbao players. The club has submitted this evidence to the police, requesting an investigation to identify those responsible.

Betis also stated that if the perpetrators are identified, they will immediately impose sanctions in accordance with the club's internal regulations.

Quote: “Such behavior does not reflect the values of the club or its people, and for this reason, Betis does not wish to allow isolated incidents to tarnish the image of its supporters, who have demonstrated exemplary conduct throughout the club’s history,” the statement read.

The club added that it is actively participating in the investigation and strongly condemns any form of racism or xenophobic behavior.

Reminder: In a recent La Liga match between Getafe and Barcelona, an incident occurred where Barça player Alejandro Balde was subjected to racist abuse from home fans. This controversy caught the attention of FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
