Benni McCarthy crashed. The South African football legend oversees Kenya record their worst defeat in 47 years as Senegal beats them 8-0
Sadio Mane is an unwanted man in Kenya.
Mane, the former Liverpool striker, scored a hat-trick when his Senegal side beat Kenya 8-0 in a friendly international last night to see Harambee Stars record their worst defeat in 47 years.
The whole Kenya was reverberating in shock last night following this result of the match played in Mardan Stadium Turkey.
Senegal are preparing for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco while the Kenyans have their sights on having the best team for the 2027 edition of the tournament.
The Harambee Stars are currently under the guidance of South African football legend, Benni McCarthy, who they they tasked to steer them to better heights.
Kenya will be one of the host nations for the 2027 spectacle.
The Football Kenya Federation president Hussein Mohammed has since apologised to the football followers of the East African nation.
“Truth be told, today is a bad day in office,” Mohammed said on social media.
“The results from today’s games are a wake-up call to us. To play and compete against the best in the world requires deliberate investment in a serious and professional technical team and player development programs.
“We have no excuses. I apologise for these results. We shall fix it. We will review our policies, operational procedures and key performance indicators of all staff starting from the grassroots and working our way to all National teams.”
