Benavidez has one more week to decide which division he will continue his career in
The World Boxing Council (WBC) has given David Benavidez another week to decide in which weight division he will continue his career.
Benavidez must finalize whether he will compete in the light heavyweight division or the super middleweight division, where he holds interim WBC titles in both categories.
The boxer needs to decide if he will continue pursuing Canelo Alvarez or target the winner of the bout between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.
It is worth noting that in June, David defeated Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk by unanimous decision (116-112, 117-111, 119-109).
From the first round, Benavidez controlled the fight and dominated the ring. The bout was one-sided until the championship rounds, after which Gvozdyk managed to box more competitively, but it wasn't enough for victory.
The match against Gvozdyk went the full twelve rounds, and the winner had to be determined by the judges, who favored the American.
