Bellingham refused to let Tuchel undermine England’s hard-fought victory.
Details: England edged past Norway 2-1 in the World Cup quarterfinals, booking their place in the next round. The star of the night was Jude Bellingham, who delivered a stunning brace—including the decisive winner in extra time.
Despite reaching the semifinals, England’s head coach Thomas Tuchel was visibly dissatisfied with his squad’s performance. He claimed the players were sloppy, made too many technical errors, lacked urgency, and owed their progress largely to luck.
Bellingham disagreed with that assessment and publicly reminded the coach just how tough the match had been.
“Maybe he doesn’t know what it’s like to play in those conditions against Haaland, Ødegaard, Nusa, and Sørloth. That’s not an easy team to face,” the midfielder stated.
Jude also emphasized that you can’t win every match by dominating possession and stringing together a thousand passes. Sometimes, he said, the team has to grind out results in a gritty, hard-fought battle.
It’s also worth noting that with his brace, Bellingham’s World Cup goal tally now stands at six. Real Madrid players have netted a combined 19 goals at this tournament, setting an all-time record for players from a single club.
Reminder: Norway's fairy tale comes to an end. Bellingham's brace rewrites World Cup history.
