Details: 31-year-old Spanish tennis star Garbiñe Muguruza has married her fan, Arthur Borges, in Marbella, Spain.
The former world No. 1 and model met Borges by chance in New York three years ago. At the time, Muguruza was competing in the US Open in September and decided to take a walk in Central Park during her stay.
During her stroll, Borges, who was also in the park, asked the tennis player for a selfie. He later wished her luck in the tournament, revealing himself to be a genuine fan. They became a couple nearly three years ago, and in May last year, Borges proposed to Muguruza.
Reminder: Muguruza retired from tennis in April of this year. Throughout her career, she won two Grand Slam titles, claiming the French Open in 2016 and Wimbledon in 2017.
In September 2017, Garbiñe reached world No. 1 in the WTA rankings and held the top spot for four weeks. She earned approximately €22.7 million in prize money over the course of her career.
