‘Go back home, get on the boat...’. Muguruza urged Nadal to end his career
Renowned Spanish former tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza has called on her compatriot Rafael Nadal to end his career.
Quote: “Nadal is ready to call it a day. His body, his mind, everything... It's time to enjoy his son! I see him smiling at his kid all the time and I think, ‘Why are you still on the court? Come home, get on the boat, go to Mallorca.”
Muguruza adds that she recently chatted with Nadal. At the Laureus Awards gala, Nadal and Garbiñe had a candid conversation. The former tennis player explains that Rafa confirmed to her that this would be his last year as a professional player:
“He told me that this will be his last year. It's difficult to get to know him because he's very shy. We talked a little bit during the Laureus Gala earlier this year and he told me, ‘This is my last year,’ but he didn't share anything else. I do not want to ask him personal questions”, - admits the Spaniard-Venezuelan.
Recall: Muguruza won Wimbledon in 2017. In the spring she finished her career.
38-year-old Nadal earlier refused to perform at the Lever Cup 2024.
