The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a series of strict regulations regarding the conduct of substitute players during IPL matches.

Details: According to new directives published by Cricbuzz, players on the bench are now officially prohibited from freely moving around the stadium during games.

These measures aim to maintain strict order in the stadium bowl and minimize unnecessary movement that could distract players or fans.

Special attention is given to the personnel authorized to enter the field of play. Under the new rules, extra players not included in the official 16-man squad (Impact players and reserves) are not allowed on the field—even to deliver drinks, equipment, or tactical instructions. Now, only a limited group of approved staff can interact directly with the playing XI during breaks in play.

The number of people at the boundary line is also regulated. There is a strict cap: no more than five players in special bibs are allowed outside the boundary rope. These five may be selected from the 16-man squad or from the rest of the team.
