Bayern Munich has appointed Max Eberl as their sporting director, as announced on the German club's website.

Eberl previously worked at RB Leipzig from December 2022, before being relieved of his duties on September 29th. Prior to that, he served as the sporting director of Borussia Mönchengladbach for 13 years. His contract with Bayern Munich is set until June 30, 2027, and will take effect from March 1st.

Following the announcement of Thomas Tuchel's departure as Bayern's head coach, there were discussions in the media about who would lead the "record champions" in the upcoming campaign. One of the favorites mentioned was Bayer Leverkusen's coach, Xabi Alonso, but the Munich-based club itself was not as categorical. As stated by Bayern's executive director, Jan-Christian Dreesen, statements regarding Alonso are currently nothing more than speculation.

It is worth recalling that Bayern and Leipzig faced each other in the match of the 23rd round of the German Bundesliga. The Munich team managed to snatch victory in the dying minutes, thanks to a goal from Harry Kane.
