Bayern Munich's director, Christoph Freund, has discussed the progress of the search for a new head coach for the team next season.

According to the top manager of the Munich club, the negotiating process with potential successors to Thomas Tuchel is actively underway, with a specific mention of Julian Nagelsmann.

"Nagelsmann worked here before, so it's a special situation. I have a lot of trust in Julian. But there are other coaches I trust as well. It's important to make the right decision. We are in negotiations to find a new coach," Freund told Sky Sports.

Recall that Thomas Tuchel will leave his position as Bayern Munich's head coach at the end of the season. Besides Julian Nagelsmann, potential successors to the current coach include Roberto De Zerbi, Ralf Rangnick, and Hansi Flick.

Bayer Leverkusen's head coach, Xabi Alonso, who was also a priority, has already announced that he will remain with the current club for the next season.

Bayern Munich is currently in second place in the Bundesliga table and has effectively lost chances for the championship title. On April 9th, Tuchel's team will play the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against Arsenal.
