Real Madrid’s preparations for their Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Bayern Munich were thrown into chaos by a dramatic late-night incident.
Details: According to El Chiringuito, a group of German supporters gathered in the dead of night outside the Munich hotel where Los Blancos were staying. The hardcore Bayern fans unleashed a massive fireworks and pyrotechnics display right beneath the players’ windows, aiming to deprive the Real squad of precious sleep before their high-stakes clash at the Allianz Arena.
Such intimidation tactics have become something of a tradition in European football as the knockout stages reach their climax. The organizers of this nocturnal "show" hoped that a sleepless night for Real’s key players would hand Bayern an extra edge on the pitch. The noise from the pyrotechnics echoed across several city blocks.
It’s worth noting that the return leg between Bayern and Real Madrid is set for today, April 15, with kickoff at 21:00 Central European Time.
Reminder: Álvaro Arbeloa made another bold statement ahead of the showdown with Bayern.
