Bayern defender breaks Son Heung-min's hegemony
Bayern Munich's central defender, Kim Min-jae, has been named the best footballer of the year in South Korea for the first time in his career, as reported by the official website of the country's Football Federation.
Previously, this award had been won four years in a row by Tottenham's leader, Son Heung-min.
Last year, Kim Min-jae won the Serie A title with Napoli. At the end of the season, he was included in the Serie A Best XI and was also nominated for the Ballon d'Or.
In the summer, the 27-year-old Korean moved to Bayern Munich for €50 million. He has already played 22 matches and scored 1 goal for the German champions.
Before Napoli, Kim Min-jae played for Fenerbahce, Beijing Guoan, and Jeonbuk Motors. He has earned 55 caps and scored 4 goals for the South Korean national team.
