Bayern confirm frightening Kompany collapse! Club issues emergency statement
Bayern Munich have officially confirmed alarming news about Vincent Kompany. The 40-year-old head coach collapsed while watching the club's reserve team train on Friday and was subsequently taken to hospital.
Details: In an official statement released on October 23, Bayern confirmed that Kompany required medical treatment after collapsing during a training session involving the club's amateur team. The Belgian had been observing the session at Säbener Straße when the incident occurred. The club announced that he would undergo comprehensive examinations in hospital and remain under medical care. His coaching staff will temporarily take responsibility for training sessions and matchday operations.
The official announcement provides crucial clarification following earlier reports from Bild and Sky Germany. Emergency medical services attended Bayern's training complex, where a rescue helicopter was also seen. According to Sky, Kompany was transported to hospital by ambulance. Reports indicate that his condition is stable, although Bayern have not disclosed a specific diagnosis or provided a timetable for his recovery.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl stressed that the coach's health takes absolute priority. Kompany had recently been suffering from a viral infection that forced him to miss training sessions and media duties before the Champions League meeting with Arsenal. Despite feeling unwell, he returned to the touchline for Wednesday's 2-2 draw and subsequently admitted that he had ignored his body's warning signs.
It's worth noting that Bayern are scheduled to face Freiburg in the Bundesliga on October 25. Assistants Aaron Danks and René Marić are among the staff available to oversee preparations during Kompany's absence. The club has promised its manager the necessary support and time to recover, with no confirmed date for his return.
Reminder: Emergency in Munich! Bayern coach Kompany reportedly taken to hospital.
