Bayern begin negotiations to sign Wirtz

Young Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz has long been on the radar of Europe’s top clubs, and the battle for his signature is now heating up.

Details: According to Nicolò Schira, Bayern Munich have officially begun negotiations to sign the 21-year-old attacking midfielder. Previous reports indicated that Wirtz and his entourage see a move to Bayern as a potential stepping stone for a future transfer to another top European league.

Reminder: Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes recently stated that the club is confident about keeping both Wirtz and head coach Xabi Alonso beyond the summer transfer window, as both feel comfortable in Leverkusen.
