Bayer offers Wirtz a new contract. He must respond by the end of March
Florian Wirtz is showcasing outstanding football and attracting the attention of Europe's top clubs, but he might stay with the team for a few more years.
Details: According to Bild, the pharmaceutical team has offered their star player a new contract until 2028 with a buyout clause. The clause will come into effect in 2026 and will be set at 125 million euros. If Wirtz wishes to leave this summer, Bayer will demand 150 million for him.
However, the player and his entourage believe that after the 2026 World Cup will be the best time to move to a top club. Thus, Leverkusen still has a great chance of keeping the player for the next season. Florian will make his decision by early April.
This season, the 21-year-old Wirtz has scored 9 goals and provided 11 assists in 25 Bundesliga matches.
Reminder: Florian Wirtz's agent denied involvement in negotiations regarding the player's move to Manchester City. It was previously reported that Wirtz himself wants to join Bayern Munich, and then move abroad.
