Previously, we reported that Real Madrid was keeping a close eye on Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz. It was believed that the German was the club's primary transfer target for the next off-season. There were reports suggesting that the club had reached an agreement with the player, with negotiations with the German champions looming.
However, according to Caught Offside, such a transfer is unlikely, as Wirtz himself prefers to play for Bayern Munich. It is believed that the 21-year-old midfielder wants to stay in Germany, and current players from the national team and Bayern Munich are encouraging him to first switch clubs within the country and think carefully before moving to the Spanish capital.
Additionally, there was speculation that Wirtz might move to Real Madrid next year, not alone, but together with the team's head coach, Xabi Alonso.
Florian Wirtz played a crucial role for his team in this phenomenal season. He appeared in 49 matches, scoring eighteen goals and providing nineteen assists.
