The summer transfer window opens in early July, but Real Madrid is already active in the market. The Spanish champions are working on a deal for one of Bayer Leverkusen's key players Florian Wirtz, who has played a significant role for his team.

According to Marca, Los Blancos are conducting careful negotiations with both the German club and the player himself. They are not in a hurry but are proceeding confidently.

Bayer Leverkusen has reportedly extended the player's contract until 2027, and Wirtz has confirmed to the club that he will not leave this summer.

However, Real Madrid's offer is highly attractive to the German, and he is willing to accept it next summer. Los Blancos see Wirtz as a potential replacement for Jude Bellingham in case of injury or a possible transfer.

Signing Wirtz would be an excellent move for Real Madrid, albeit an expensive one. According to Bild, the Spanish champions will have to pay around €150 million for the player, but this sum is unlikely to be a barrier for club president Florentino Perez.

It seems likely that Wirtz will play another season at Bayer Leverkusen before potentially donning the Real Madrid jersey next year. There is also a possibility that his current coach, Xabi Alonso, could join him in Madrid.
