Bayer intends to offer a new contract to their key defender
Bayer Leverkusen is keen on retaining their pivotal defender Jonathan Tah.
The club's managing director, Simon Rolfes, revealed that they plan to offer the center-back a new contract. Tah's current agreement with the pharmaceuticals expires in the summer of 2025.
"We would like Tah to stay. He has achieved remarkable success on and off the field," Rolfes told Bild.
The 28-year-old German international has been with Bayer since 2015. The pharmaceuticals paid Hamburg €9 million for his services.
In the current season, the German defender has played 34 matches across all competitions, scoring six goals. Transfermarkt values him at €30 million.
Interest in Tah is attributed to English Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal.
Bayer leads Bayern by 13 points with seven rounds remaining in the season. Earlier, the team's head coach, Xabi Alonso, announced his decision regarding his future at the club.
