Battle of the German giants for La Masia treasure! Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen set their sights on Barcelona youth product
Top clubs from Germany’s top flight have joined the race for one of the most gifted young defenders to emerge from the Catalan academy.
Details: Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are showing serious interest in Barcelona’s 19-year-old full-back Xavi Espart. According to renowned insider Ekrem Konur, both German clubs have already sent scouts to closely monitor the young player’s performances and development.
Despite the interest from Bundesliga heavyweights, completing a transfer will be far from straightforward. The Catalan club has long-term plans for its academy graduate: Espart’s current contract with the Blaugrana runs until June 2028, giving Barcelona full control of the situation.
Xavi Espart is regarded as one of the most promising talents in the La Masia setup. The 19-year-old full-back stands out for his excellent passing ability, positional discipline and versatility, allowing him to operate reliably on either flank of the defense. The defender regularly trains with the first-team squad and is on the radar of Spain’s youth national teams.
Reminder: €150m release clause! Barcelona tie down their rising talent with a new contract
