Barcelona will not sign Liverpool midfielder. A well-known insider has revealed the reasons

The injury to young midfielder Marc Bernal has forced Barcelona to look for unscheduled reinforcements in the centre of the pitch, but signings in the Catalan capital are not easy at the moment.

Earlier it became known that the Blaugrana wanted to loan Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic, who was already halfway through a move to Salzburg. But Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the 19-year-old will move to Austria after all:

‘While Barcelona were trying to realise the deal, they also had big problems with financial fair-play, so it was a problem for them to get the green light from La Liga. They spent all day trying to find a way out of the La Liga situation.

But at the moment nothing has been approved yet, so the player's agents, Salzburg, Liverpool and all interested parties expect Bajcetic to travel to Salzburg tomorrow and finalise his transfer,’ read Romano's column for The Daily Breifing.

As a reminder, Bernal suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his knee with lateral meniscus damage and is highly likely to miss the entire 2024/2025 season.
