Barcelona has finally decided that they want to keep right-back João Cancelo in the team for the next season, whose rights are still owned by Manchester City.

According to Diario Sport, Barcelona has already informed Manchester City of their intention. However, negotiations between the clubs have encountered difficulties.

The issue is that Manchester City wants €40 million for the Portuguese player, which does not suit Barcelona financially. The Catalan club is proposing another loan with an option for mandatory purchase to the English champions.

Cancelo himself is keen on staying in Barcelona, so he has asked his agent Jorge Mendes to find a way to make the deal happen.

In 33 matches for Barcelona, Cancelo has scored 4 goals and provided 4 assists.

It's worth noting that Barcelona also wants to keep attacking midfielder João Félix in the team, who is currently on loan from Atlético Madrid.
