Barcelona talent's Leipzig move collapses. Who is it?
RB Leipzig have made a sudden midfield U-turn with the transfer window closing.
Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, RB Leipzig reached an agreement on Saturday night to sign Roma midfielder Neil El Aynaoui. The German club moved for the Moroccan after deciding not to proceed with a deal for Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó.
Casadó had been one of Leipzig's options to strengthen the centre of midfield, but that route is now closed. Romano adds that other possibilities are being explored for the Spaniard to leave Barcelona before the end of the transfer window, meaning his future at the Catalan club remains unresolved.
El Aynaoui now appears to be Leipzig's chosen alternative. Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the structure under discussion is a paid loan worth €4 million with a €25 million option to buy. Romano's latest update confirms that Leipzig have agreed to sign the Roma midfielder, although neither club has officially announced the transfer yet.
It is worth noting that Casadó's current contract with Barcelona runs until June 30, 2028. In the 2025/26 season, the midfielder made 34 appearances for the first team across all competitions and registered one assist.
